Materials Recycling Facility (MRF)
Overview
To design, manufacture, manage and install a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) with purpose made in-feed, sorting and baler system.
Problem
The client needed to invest in waste recycling systems to reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill. They wanted to set up a MRF that could deal with co-mingled industrial and domestic waste suitable for recycling.
Solution
GAME designed and installed the MRF in and around their existing building. The plant comprised of a below-floor intake and transfer conveyor feeding onto a 8-stationed picking belt. The non-picked waste was then passed under an over band magnet for ferrous cans etc, and then onto an Eddy-current unit to fire off the aluminium leaving only plastic bottles on the belt. The final part of the project was a transfer conveyor to feed the 10tph baler.
Result
The project was completed on time, on budget, and passed the performance criteria within two weeks of initial commissioning.
